Diploma in Digital Photography

Tristan Manas, a New Zealander of Philippine descent, is furthering his studies at the Otago School of Media, (Aoraki Polytechnic Dunedin), in the Diploma in Digital Photography programme after recently graduating from Otago University with a BA degree in Film and Media Studies with a minor in Design. He is currently the producer of “Cow TV” – a student focussed show for Dunedin’s Channel 9, and has also gained recognition for film making including twice being a regional finalist in the 48hour film challenge.
Tristan sees the Digital Photography programme as providing further skills for realising his aspirations of becoming a Film Director and/or Cinematographer, saying “the skills I am gaining in lighting techniques are of value and understanding the approaches to different photography genres such as documentary and photojournalism will help enhance my ability to be a brilliant director”.
Tristan sees additional value in the programme due to its focus on ongoing contact with the photography industry and its slant towards the commercial side of photography rather than solely fine art.
The Digital Photography programme was recommended to Tristan by a previous student. Tristan believes it was an exceptional recommendation and will be recommending the programme to others.
